Cold Laser Therapy
Cold laser therapy is becoming a more popular treatment modality for use on scars, musculoskeletal pain, muscles, joints and imflammation. It is also widely used for the treatment of chronic pain and nerve injuries.
Cold laser is a transfer of energy through light. This type of light wavelength does not have heating effects or destructive effects on tissue like the lasers that are used in surgery. The cold laser stimulates the parts of our cells that produce energy. With more energy produced there is more healing potential. Hemoglobin, our red blood cell pigment, absorbs light best at about 650nm; and the most effective biostimulation wavelength has been found to be 632-635nm for human tissue. We use 635nm on many of our patients and receive excellent results with decreased pain and swelling. Some patients respond better than others with dramatic results.
Cold Laser Therapy has been found to be safe and an insignifigant risk by FDA classification, following extensive multi-year reviews.
We do not use any modalities on pregnant women.
